Long-Term Relationship

Feel good movie with a happy ending...
This is a feel good kind of movie, which isn't common in this genre. Sometimes you just want to watch a couple end up together and happy. The main characters are easy on the eye which makes watching a pleasure and they have good onscreen chemistry. The one has what's supposed to be a Southern-Atlanta-accent which isn't very good but he's so adorable I just ignored it. I'm a hetero female and love romance in all it's forms and this one I will absolutely watch again. The trials the characters go through are realistic and and it's nice to watch their relationship develop. All around a few hours well spent!

Favorite movie
This is the second time I've seen this movie. Unlike other gay movies this one is moving and touches into monogamy and how you really have to work hard at a relationship to achieve it.

Finally
Its about time a movie is made that ends happy! It not only shows us that 2 people in love can over come any obstacles, it shows that a same sex couples love is as strong as ANY other type of union. Hats off to the makers of this film.

Jim Henson Presents: The Song Of The Cloud Forest

Jim Henson and his team of artists always knew which stories needed to be told to help children see the bigger picture
As a child the story Song of the Cloud Forest had a particular resonance because I was worried about everything that was happening in the world at that time and the destruction of the rain forests struck me as a tragic lose. Jim Henson and his team of artists always knew which stories needed to be told to help children see the bigger picture and offered possibilities as to how we could make it a little better. I respect greatly that belief Henson's showed back then, they said what needed to be said, it was truthful and it was always empowering. Their artistry was always of the highest standard and their artistic innovation was at the works heart as well as it's artistic message to make a better world. Their work was always highly individual and it conveyed the beauty of life because they understood life and at the centre of it all was Jim Henson who really did carry the whole world on his shoulders at one point - this work is fine example of his love of television storytelling and it...

Perfect DVD for Earth Day
This is a very educational DVD, especially because it teaches children about what happens when our rainforests are destroyed and what happens to the creatures that reside in it. This is an ideal DVD for teachers to show in the classroom on or around Earth Day too.

In The Song of the Cloud Forest the puppets are enjoyable, except the funky monkey looking things. I was surprised that it was very unrealistic compared to other Jim Henson shows. The background was incredibly fake and the people were clearly blue screened on the background. The story was great - the quality of the presentation was poor.

Also included on the DVD is an episode of Animal Show. I LOVE THIS! The Animal Show features amazing puppets that are very true to life and more realistic. The characters are funny and the whole show is entertaining. You can really learn a lot from the Animal Show, even if you are adult and think you know it all.

There is also a Fraggle Rock episode (I loved...

cute, but not of the great
this movie is OK, not a Jim Henson best, but its OK, visually cool, but stories are short and not real interesting either

Last Outlaw, The

SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!
If you like Westerns even a little, then you will LOVE this film. I'm not a Mickey Rourke fan, but he's good here and the rest of the cast is absolutely outstanding- Steve Buscemi, Dermont Mulruney, etc.

I watch it over and over..it is that good
I bought this movie about 7 years ago and I still think it is one of the best westerns. Mickey Rourke is excellent (as usual) and so is the rest of the cast. I especially like the scenery and the way the movie shows us a dirty, dusty trail that makes it more enjoyable than watching a bunch of guys riding around the country in CLEAN clothes. That just is not as believeable since you cannot possibly stay clean in that environement.
It is somewhat violent but again that adds to the realism. I have the VHS tape and just bought a DVD to upgrade.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best westerns made in the last 30 years
This movie easily stands beside others made in the last 30 years, it's on my shelf beside Silverado and Unforgiven. Mickey Rourke is awesome as a villain and most of us can see a little of ourselves in Dermot Mulroney. His quest for redemption can be lost in the incredible action, but you'll watch this movie again and again.

Fun adventure!
I've also fished there, and while some things might've been moved around timewise, absolutely nothing felt dramatized nor staged. I remember that storm day last season, and very few boats stayed in the water during that time period. Laughable to hear critical "experts" come out of the woodwork, because that usually means jealousy is too much to bare. And the comedy of reality tv being "fake"! Because everyone loves watching other people snore while they sleep.... I mean, that IS real, right? What more "reality" would someone like to see? lol The characters on these boats seem to pop, which is why they were obviously chosen to star in this well-put together show, they all fished hard and had great seasons, and showed what it takes to catch the fish you find on your plate. These folks are real, and so aren't the adventures. Looking forward to Season 2!

Informative, but inaccurate
I fish in upper cook inlet drift gillnetting during the summers, the season is much longer than 6 days, it starts the 20th of June and runs until the second week of august. It is informative about the type of fishing and I do remember these exact days from last season. Overall its a decent show.

Lame
The only cool thing about this show is seeing the fish hit the net in the later episodes. The rest is pure junk, over dramatized nonsense. I'm a fisherman from the same area and when I saw the Discovery channel filming this, I figured it would result in pure embarrassment for our fishery. I wasn't too far off. You can see that they have all the days mixed up, the weather would change in every scene, the good sets were repeatedly shown (one time a set was shown to have been made the vessel Night's Edge, another time same set was shown to have been made by the vessel Paragon). HAHAHA! THEN again, we all know there is very little reality in reality shows. Lol

Typical Vintage ICarly, but no HD/Full Screen Hurts
Since reviewing the last episodes last year, I have upgraded to an HD TV. However Nick has stuck their same TV quality. On an HD TV, part of the picture remains black with the pic in the middle. Not so hot.
Here are the episodes-

Disc 1-
* I Look Alike
* I Want My Website Back
* I Make Sam Girlier
* I Go Nuclear
* I Date A Bad Boy
* I Reunite With Missy

Disc 2
* I Take On Dingo
* I Must Have Locker 239
* ITwins*
* I Fight Shelby Marx*
* I Think They Kissed*
* I Cooked

* On Previous DVD

3 Repeats in 12 episodes- Overall Grade- B+

iCarly rocks
iCarly is my favorite Nick show right now. It's the funniest Nick show I've ever watched and it's ad that it's coming to an end, but I understand since the cast is getting older now and wants to pursue other interests in film, television and music. Season 2 Volume 2 is my favorite iCarly DVD that has been released because it has some of my fave episodes on it. If you luv iCarly, get it.

ICarly is So Fun
ICarly is a great show. My son loves to watch it, and I find myself watching it too. Its really fun and we love that its based on our home town.

An Island Legacy Edge Closer

brilliant film
I am a huge fan of the Isle of Man TT, and last visited two years ago. Now although the entertainment does not change, you do see the best of the Island coming to life within these two weeks. This film I thought was good, not the best I have seen, but then again, once you have seen the entertainment it does not change from year to year.
I disagree with the previous review. Listen, the TT entertainment is brilliantly shown in this film. You'll enjoy it!

Not worth ones time unless you want to watch something amateurish...
I am a huge Isle of Man TT fan and I am always interested in anything written or produced for movie or television. I was eager to view this documentary, but within 5 minutes of watching it I knew I was going to be disappointed. I usually don't take the time to review movies, but this one is just awful and I want to warn people not to waste their time. The documentary is basically a collection of events going on during the 2 weeks of the Isle of Man TT, it has very little content or information. It looks as though someone from a Junior High video club produced and directed this. It is one of the worst produced pieces of film I have ever seen, it's monotonous, it drones on with painfully long and unspectacular footage of basically circus clowns doing silly tricks. One scene in particular shows a guy driving a motor cycle with a jet engine going up and down back and forth for maybe 10 minutes straight doing nothing but going up and down the short track with no commentary or information,...

Henson's Place: The Man Behind The Muppets

great biopic, but not enough
For Muppet fans, this is a nice little biopic that summarizes Henson's life and achievements with the Muppets. It was nice to see interviews with Jim Henson and the gang. Unfortunately, this documentary is way too short at around 50 minutes. It skims over Henson's Sam and Friends show (which was on for 8 years), barely mentions Dark Crystal, and doesn't even cover Labyrinth. The documentary was obviously made during the 1980s and aired during an hour-long segment of TV.

However, now more than ever it's crucial that somebody go back and make a fitting tribute to Henson, covering his work in greater depth. The art of puppetry for film is dying out. There are a few signs of revival, such as renewed interest in Fraggle Rock and the new Muppets movie, but generally CG is taking over. In a few years, it will be impossible for people to understand why we loved the Muppets so much as kids.

As the only documentary I've seen thus far, Henson's Place is good for what it...

SS Camp 5 - Women's Hell (SS Lager 5) [VHS Retro Style DVD] 1977

Not a bad movie
SS Camp 5 is set during the time of the holocaust in WW2. A special camp separates woman who are either used for experiments or are used in an SS brothel. The experiments center around healing burns on the German battlefield.
The movie is an R-rated (by me) B movie. Full frontal nudity. There is a rape scene that is a little hard to watch. Knowing that this is a movie with actors makes it OK in my book. No one is really hurt. The use of real holocaust pictures at the start and end of the movie was uncomfortable for me because I felt it inappropriate for this kind of movie. All in all the movie is good. The story is a good one and possible for the time and setting of the movie. A real late night drive-in movie. Not a bad movie of adults to watch.

Wired (The John Belushi Story) 1989

Bio marred by voice sync problems
I was wondering if this movie would be everything I remembered it to be; A very brave performance by a then unknown Michael Chiklis, from a very "interesting" adaptation of the Bob Woodward novel. The critics(not to mention Belushi's widow) as I remember were unkind to this movie, and for me, time has been unkind to the film. Maybe it's because so many other superior bio-pics have been made since; "Walk the line", "Ray" e.g. "Wired by comparison comes off as an overtly sentimental "Lifetime" Movie of the week. Chiklis' performance cannot be faulted and was worth the revisit.
As a Technical aside:
The streaming experience was marred by synching problems. I expected the music lip synching to be off ,but even the dialogue parts were off by a few seconds. I found this to be the case on more than one device. I'm hoping to be able to RE-download for free and try again.

God's got a saying: "Life's not for everyone."
"Wired" is a bizarre movie in many respects. It's based on the book of the same name by Bob Woodward ("All The President's Men") but instead of adapting the events in the book straight, the writers of the movie decided to tell it in a sort of disjointed, amusing (albeit misguided) humorous flashback format that features the ghost of John Belushi going on an odyssey with his guardian angel, looking back at the events of his life that lead to his untimely death.

Michael Chiklis makes his film debut, here and for this role he's not just playing John Belushi, he IS John Belushi. From what I understand, over a hundred actors were auditioned for the coveted role of the comedic icon and Chiklis came out on top, gained thirty pounds for the role and wore contact lenses to match John's eye color. He nails all of Belushi's mannerisms and does a spot on impression of his voice. It's an amazing performance, but unfortunately, the movie IS flawed.

As Judith Belushi (Samurai...

I have been looking for this movie for a while. Glad to find it, but the quality was poor. It looked like someone recorded it in a movie theater with a camera. The sound was off from the sync and the picture was grainy. Was better on VHS.

Sesame Street: Sing Along

High in Sesame goodness, low in Muppet appearances
I like this tape a lot, even though it's dated (by Maria's big '80s hair!). Most of the singing takes place when the Sesame Street gang and a group of kids drag a piano up to the roof to have a sing-along with Bob and Big Bird. Workmen Biff and Sully just happen to be up there "fixing" a TV, where you get to see some terrific non-rooftop spots including Grover and the late great Madeline Kahn singing "Sing After Me," a sign-language enhanced "Sing," "We All Sing With The Same Voice," and "Doin the Pidgeon"

Maria, Gordon, Bob, Big Bird, Hoots the Owl and the kids all sing "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt," "Old MacDonald Had A Farm,""Stand Up and Pinch Your Nose," the Alphabet song, a cute upbeat number by Big Bird called "Cheer Up" and, for a grand finale, my ultimate favorite Sesame Street song, "What's The Name Of That Song."

The production values in this tape are very simple - but the focus is on the characters and their voices. Everybody gets to be who they are. I recommend...

A Must for the One to Two Year Old Set!
This video is our savior! Our 16 month old daughter never tires of it, and it keeps her totally enraptured for a full half hour! The songs are classic and engaging, and the premise is cute too. A definite must.

A fun sing-along video!
Be forewarned....Elmo does NOT appear in this video! However, this is a really cute sing-along with most of your favorite characters (human and muppet). We especially like the "Be my echo" song with Grover. My daughter loves this video and asks for it again and again, even though Elmo isn't in it. I bought it not knowing what to expect. What I got was a cute video that my daughter enjoys, which is worth the price.

Trashed

The first scenes of the movie 'say' it all with mountains of trash at the beach of Lebanon...
A movie that will awaken all of us to stop using one time plastic bottle to quench our thirst, and time start buying products with no plastic wrapping. An urgent call to convert to zero waste asap, with small changes such as carrying your own bag at the store. Splendid documentary by Jeremy Irons, and as always great music by Vangelis at the end of the movie.

Note: I watched this movie streaming at the official site of the movie: [...] so if you want to start zero waste now, I recommend you watch it online :)

Outstanding Film About What We Are Doing To Our Planet
We think that separating our trash is recycling. We never considered what happens after that....where does it go....how is it finally disposed of?
This film exposes the trouble our world is in unless we change our habits NOW!!!
Great film.

Southwest Championship Wrestling: Best Of The 80's Volume 1

Great selection of matches from Southwest Championship Wrestling
This is a great DVD well worth the low low price and then some. Great selection of matches from Southwest Championship Wrestling and Texas All Star Wrestling from 1981 through 1985. Matches are from the TV shows and the Hemisfair Arena as well.

DVD is hosted by Rock Parsons & Ox Baker who provide intros and outros to all of the matches. Parsons is apparently an ex-wrestler as well but I don't remember him. He provides some very good insight into each match. Baker provides some interesting color but some of his facts are mistaken such as thinking Terminator aka Tugboat aka Fred Ottman was dead and Parsons never corrected him.

List of matches:

TIGER CONWAY JR. VS. ALI BEY (HEMISFAIR ARENA--7/4/83)
TUG TAYLOR VS. TERMINATOR (FRED OTTTMAN) (TEXAS ALL STAR WRESTLING--6/85)
WAHOO McDANIEL VS. ATSUSHI ONITA (1981)
SHAWN MICHAELS VS. KEN JOHNSON (TEXAS ALL STAR - 6/85)
MARK LEWIN VS. HENRY GARCIA (TEXAS ALL STAR - 5/85) (LEWIN BLOODIES...

REFRESHING TO SEE A NEW WRESTLING DVD ABOUT THE 80'S
A very good DVD, price is great and offers a lot for the money. Ox Baker and Rock Parsons did a great job hosting. Ox made one mistake about Big Bubba dying at a young age, but really meant his partner Earthquake, other than that they were very informative, and Parsons related stories from being a wrestler, promoter and commentator while Bake talked from in ring experience and some inside information. This is the first one of this series and with Scott Casey, Tommy Rich, Bruiser Brody, Jim Duggan, and a ton of others this was a very enjoyable DVD

horrible
this video was horrible i dont know which was worse ,the choices of matches put on this disc or the 2 bland ,confusing hosts,ox baker was terrible in reviewing the matches and his attempt at humor was accomplishing as the results of these boreing matches, south western chaMpionship wrestling had alot of good story lines and none were displayed in this video ,you would be more entertained by purchasing ox bakers cook book SMH

Psychological Antidotes and Soul Prescriptions: The Story of Darksoul Theatre

In Darkness There is Light
"It's about allowing people to face their inner fears to enjoy the darkness within their lives, because if they don't enjoy the darkness, they get afraid of it later on." So begins Mikhail Tank's documentary "Psychological Antidotes and Soul Prescriptions," which explains the story and origins of Darksoul Theatre. Not being immediately familiar with the subject, I found this documentary very interesting. Mikhail Tank has a storytelling manner, drawing the audience directly into his world and his life.

Growing up in Russia, Mikhail began to develop a desire for dark art at a very young age. "The darkness is where I find light," he explains. After moving to the United States in high school, Mikhail became involved at a drama club. He soon discovered an enjoyment of creative performances, especially in front of an audience. This was the beginnings of what he would grow to call "Darksoul Theatre."

Mikhail soon created his first music single, which became a hit on a...

Enjoy The Darkness
Mikhail Tank's Psychological Antidotes and Soul Prescriptions: The Story of Darksoul Theatre documents the events, emotions, and thoughts that led to his creation of Darksoul Theatre. This documentary offers an intimate look at the inception and struggle of a performance artist. Mikhail's interests are theatre, spoken word, video, and a positive life outlook.

Presented in chronological order, Mikhail starts with his childhood in Russia and the oppression he felt creatively. Upon moving to America for high school, he immediately took to expressing himself in any way, and anywhere, he was able. From the lunch room to during class to the stage, Mikhail embraced the freedom his new home allowed. From there he talks about his college years and collaborations, and even his plans for the future of his art and Darksoul Theatre.

The main theme of Psychological Antidotes and Soul Prescriptions is really positive messages for life. Mikhail frames this life philosophy...

highly recommended
This documentary is a powerful summary of Mikhail Tank's artistic work. Any fan of Darksoul Theatre will enjoy learning the history behind his work, as well as being introduced to shows you may have missed. For those of us who aren't as good at interpreting messages he explains the core of each show's message, but leaves you hungry to experience his work in while. I highly recommend this documentary for anyone who is a fan of his art, whether of Darksoul Theatre, his Dollar Baby films with Stephen King, or any of his many other projects.

Psychic Detective Yakumo: Complete Collection

Now, a review on the actual product.
There's nothing really hidden or ground breaking about this series. It's pretty straight forward. Saito can see the spirits of the dead. He can't purify them, but he can speak to them. Overall, you think Ghost Hunt (Same idea with a protagonist, and young woman duo) and sprinkle in some more action. There are actual antagonists instead of a vague "fighting spirits" or evil concepts.
However, the series doesn't have a streaming license and Sentai Filmworks is the only studio with a license for it in the states. Which because of the limited nature of it, makes it one I would pick up. Even if you try and get around not being a a supporter of companies importing great Anime, the fansubs have only been in 480 res for the most part, and it would behoove you to pick it up just for a decent 720 res.
Like the previous review states. There is no English dub. Most Anime purchasers in the States should be familiar with the market to know most of the companies in the business...

Okay but ultimately disappointing...
I really wanted to like this anime. Great central character and intriguing plot but all feel apart in last episodes because the stakes weren't high enough and Yakumo figured everything out too easily. A wasted trip!

They Messed Up
I'm sure this was a great anime, but it wasn't what I purchased. It originally stated "Audio: English" and if you look at the audio information when you insert the DVDs it will offer "Audio: English or None" and "Subtitles: English or None". So I can see how this mistake was made. However, I made my purchase according to the information provided.

Love and Politics

Stirring drama on drama
Never before has a documentary about theatre been as bold and has had this much access to a director of the caliber of Judith Malina. Framed by snippets of her latest play, the octogenarian artist reveals her message of love and persistence despite the societal forces that turn away from compassion, understanding and artistry. This film sits proudly on my bookshelf and every film lover owes it to him or herself to watch this wonderful piece.

striking subject matter and cinematography
this is a compelling, lyrically told, beautifully shot documentary about a true radical in the world of theater and in the realm of art in general. if you want to understand what conviction is, watch this film. judith malina believed in the ideals of her theater movement to such an extent that she willingly gave up her most profound personal freedoms in order for her movement to succeed. whether or not it was worth it is just one of the fascinating aspects explored in this film.

Long live the Living Theatre!
This is a beautiful look at the continuing career of actor/director/writer Judith Malina, an active founder of New York's The Living Theatre since the late 1940's. If you're a fan of political theatre, performance art, or artists in general taking their medium to new heights, Love and Politics is a fantastic portrait of such an artist. This is an intimate look at an artist who has had a profound role in political theatre and continues to be active to this day. After watching this documentary, I can only imagine that Judith will continue her work on stage until her very last breath.

It's awe-inspiring to know that we have living artists like Judith Malina and Marina Abramovic who continue to push the boundaries of art. Love and Politics is worth checking out to raise your awareness of the roots of modern art and the way humans can move other humans.

Edgy and touching
This was a touching movie that kind of snuck up on me to leave me with things to think about. It focused on different characters' perspectives on sex, romance and individual expression, in a way that wasn't sugar-coated. Every character seemed to have elements that I could relate to, from people I've known to my own self-reflection. I'm still smiling from the ending -- heartwarming, and it all just seemed to fit really well.

The song in the closing credits was cool too -- I'll look for it and buy it.

How I Became An Elephant

For the love of elephants
This is a masterful, gut wrenching documentary about a magnificent species that is brutalized beyond human comprehension. Aldous Huxley said "Most ignorance is vincible ignorance. We do not know because we do not want to know." We owe it to the elephants to watch this film and help end the trade in ivory, stop the exploitation of these wonderful creatures for our own entertainment and prevent their extinction. Juliette West is an extraordinary young woman that saw an injustice and did something about it. I am ever in awe that a fourteen year old girl could go so far and do so much. Lek Chailert is an amazing, inspirational woman that broke cultural boundaries, fought to receive an education so that she could help not only the elephants, but her own people and her accomplishments are miraculous. This is a very thought provoking documentary filled with heartache and heartbreak, and it offers hope not only for the elephants, but for mankind as well. For anyone that loves...

Shocking, sad, and important
I love elephants, and have been a fan of elephant paintings for a long time. I had no idea that these poor creatures are horribly abused in order to be made to perform.

While the truth is presented, it's not so graphic that most children couldn't watch it. My young teen son saw the documentary and he wasn't traumatized - but he was rightfully angry and wanting to do something about it.

We need more people in the world like Lek Chailert and Juliette West. Directors Tim Gorski and Synthian Sharp did a great job with this one.

My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera - 45 [HD]

A lot of fun!
This show is a lot of fun and always interesting. Sometimes you gotta go "huh" at some of the "evidence" - like the demon face that just happens to appear in a light spot on a digital photo - but that's part of the fun of it. In with the stories that are just so lame are some really good ghost stories sand videos of stuff that makes you wonder about whether there are really hauntings.

Some good, some ridiculous.
I really like this series. Some of the stories are really good and the evidence they collect is crazy. But, as a warning, some other stories are obviously made up. Like a video of a "ghost" that resembles a stick being shoved into the camera view. All in all though, there are some really great stories here.

These Tales are always interesting!
Despite an over abundance of paranormal shows, this one combines reinactment with the true victims of paranormal activity, so the effect is far more engaging, Generally 3-4 episodes per hour so you get some diversity of plot and circumstance.

The Real Winning Edge: A DVD Study: 10 Stories of Young People Overcoming Life's Challenges Through Faith

What the world needs now
This is a great way to show teens there is more to life than the Godless secular filth infecting today's culture.

Positive Role Models for Youth
In these days of increasing moral failures and ever falling moral standards, it is so refreshing to hear the stories of young people who have triumphed over great difficulties and past mistakes and have through hard work succeeded in their chosen field. The best part is hearing them witness that it was their faith in God that brought them through their trials and set them on a productive path. How our young people need this message today. I recommend The Real Winning Edge DVD Study to youth ministers, to high school teachers and to parents who want to give their children a vision of what they can accomplish when they are willing to delay gratification, work hard and call on God to strengthen them and walk through life with them. --Barbara Hattemer

Well.......
Not at all what I expected. Richard Roxburgh played his part as well as always but was let down by the rest of the cast and the story. Disappointing.

Good Premise Offset w/Slow Pacing
NO SPOILERS:

First and foremost, I am a fan of Roxburgh (East of Everything et al). Combined with the 1-very positive review and the less than $4 price on Amazon, I took a chance. .

Because there is an insufficient synopsis:

Roxburgh is a Detective Sergeant in Homicide who is on administrative duties pending a psyche evaluation due to an "incident" from a recent case. He is assigned as a curator of sorts in the Police Museum, charged with pulling together old crime scene photos for an upcoming exhibition.
He is cohabitating with another Homicide Detective (female), likes to on occasion "burn one up" and finds himself attracted to his new "high strung" Irish Police Therapist.
He finds himself intrigued by a female in one of the photographs and pulls the "cold case" file, which sets off a chain of events.

As referenced in my title, the premise was good. Unfortunately, I found the pacing to be un-agonizingly slow and the action to...

I don't know if this was meant to be comedic, but this I thought this movie was very funny. I saw it at a film festival with 5 other short films for like $7. so the amazon price seems high

Short film...this is a short film...BEWARE.
I got duped...AGAIN...I must always remember to look at the film's length. But this little short is good. It could indeed become a little more, because there is much to explore between not only the coming-of-age teenage boys, but the tension between modern Jewish thinking within the religious context and the more traditional Jewish thinking (e.g., strict observance and adherence to Jewish religious laws) and the reconciliation between the two. The tension in the film is exemplified in the conservative, lawyer dad of the seeming 'straight' kid, and the liberal Rabbi and dad to the kid who has just 'come-out' to his folks. I don't think we fully appreciate that within the Jewish community, there are various divergent streams of traditions and culture. These traditions may stem from one root, but they branch-out into various versions of conservative or liberal thinking and human behavior and can result in great anxiety on the individuals caught-up in one or the other as they try to...

If Only Every LGBT Teen Could Be This Fortunate!
I truly enjoyed Shabbat Dinner! It made me feel strongly. It reminded me how incredibly vulnerable I once felt about my own same-sex attraction! I also felt the same need to hide such an important part of myself from others!

There is also plenty of humor in this powerful short film, which given the intensity of the subject matter is much appreciated!

I also had the good fortune to meet the director, Michael Morgenstern. He mentioned Shabbat Dinner was his first film! I was amazed! If his first film is this good, I can't wait to see what else he comes up with in the future!

The Werewolf And The Yeti (Night Of The Howling Beast) [VHS Retro Style] 1975

The Werewolf and the Yeti, starring Paul Naschy aka Jacinto Molina, 1975
I have been awaiting the release of this title for 15 years. The film was originally entitled "La Maldicion de La Bestia" (the same title the DVD actually displays in the opening moments of the film) but those who put out the DVD call it "The Werewolf and the Yeti" One of the better of Naschy's werewolf flicks from the 1970's. To those who have access to putting out obscure Paul Naschy Spanish horror films I would say this: How about releasing the following three titles sometime in the near future (even bootleg copies are better than no copies at all): :La Venganza de Momia" aka "The Mummy's Revenge" (1973); "La Bestia Y La Espada Magica" aka "The Beast and the Magic Sword" (1983)-this, a Hispano/Japanese co-production-; and " El Aullida del Diablo" aka "Howl of the Devil" (1988). Maybe this can be done sometime over the next year or two! Let's hope so.

Glitchy resurrection of OOP classic
The quality of this DVD-R is not at all worth the current 14.99 price tag. First of all, my blu ray player (which has never had an issue playing DVD-Rs in the past) refused to play this disc. Luckily, my Xbox 360 was more agreeable. However, the feature is riddled with instances where the frame freezes awkwardly for a split second. It's a little distracting, but not utterly unwatchable. Aside from that, the transfer looks pretty good to me. I give two stars for providing a digital version of a Paul Naschy classic not available anywhere else in the states. I would be willing to increase to four stars if the bugs were worked out or if the price was lowered to 4.99.

This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon. I felt compelled to let people know exactly what they were receiving for the price. Had I known, I certainly wouldn't have spent that much money.

Truncated
A full 6 minutes was cut from this movie for this new DVD. This DVD ran 82 minutes. The full movie is 88 minutes This was some butcher job. Better off getting the VHS Video tape which contains the entire movie. I hate it when they do this. Do not buy.

Kathy Smith Timeless Collection: Fat Burning Classics

One workout here is suitable
Did the Fat Burning workout when it was on VHS. Then it was 60 minutes long WHEW! Now it is edited to 40 minutes and much more practical for over 50. Be warned the Body Basics workout and Winning Workout are high impact with muscle bound young males and young females performing. Under the winning workout can use some of the weight lifting methods.

Kathy Smith Revisited
I discovered Kathy Smith's videos in the late 1980s when I was in my mid-forties. I'm now in my mid-sixties and still work out to her and others' videos. I once owned all three of the workouts featured in this "Timeless" series. The "Fat-Burning" video was an all-time favorite of mine; I literally wore it out after about six years of playing it. I still love it today, can still do it, and am so glad to have it again on DVD. As for the other two workouts on this DVD, "Body Basics" was not a favorite of mine back in the '80s, but I have gained a new appreciation of it today. The floor work--especially for the legs--is terrific!

The "Winning Workout" is okay, but even in the old days I found the weight-lifting portion too convoluted, with all its graduated phases. Plus, it moves too fast for me. Kathy has newer videos that offer far better weight-training segments in my opinion. So, now that I'm twenty years older, I have even less reason to revisit the Winning Workout, and...

The oldies are always the goodies!
I love working out at home to videos. I have a nice collection, but Kathy Smith's videos have always been my favorite. She's taken her great 1980's classics and FINALLY put them on DVD! This one includes my all time favorite, The Fat Burning Workout. I was finally able to part with my worn out VHS version. I LOVE this collection!

SS Experiment Love Camp [VHS Retro Style DVD] 1976

Get it for the ultra rare cover!
the story is about women who are prisoners in the SS Experiment Camp, they are subjected to some inexplicable experiments, which often seem to involve forced sex with a group of Nazi soldiers. The purpose of the experiments is to find out which of the elite soldiers is the best stud, and then transfer his nuts onto the camp commandant, who lost his when a woman he was raping bit his off.

the film quality i cant review as i havent watched this [vhs retro edition],cut or uncut again i cant say.
the reason i brought the dvd is because of the cover, this is the original cover for this movie that came out in the uk in the 80,s and the cover alone is ultra rare.
Now since the movie got banned in them glorious 80,s,down to the graphic cover art, this cover hasnt been available on any release since, ive hunted for it,but have only ever came up with the usual crappy sell thru covers which come with the movie on dvd.
UNTIL NOW yet again amazon have brought us something...

1911 [HD]

1911 Revolution
Dynamic actor Jackie Chan is working hard in trying to leave a firm and strong legacy in Chinese cinema and cinema in general. Perhaps he wants to demonstrate that his talents are not exclusively in martial arts films and comedies, but also in dramatic roles. And I'm happy to say that he successfully does that in "1911 Revolution," a formidable and epic film about one of China's defining moments in its tortured history. Historical movies just don't get better than this.

The film opens with the execution of Qiu Jin, in Shaoxing. She was a member of the Tongmenghui, a revolutionary council that wanted to end the imperial government. We are then taken to San Francisco, on April 26, 1911, when Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (Winston Chao) is speaking at a fundraiser to the Chinese community in that city, in order that money could be collected for the revolutionary army that was fighting the Qing Dynasty. It was thought, we learn, that "overseas Chinese people were the mothers of the...

I enjoyed it, but not because it's a great movie
I'm a world history teacher, and I am going to China later this summer for a three-week vacation/adventure. I spent a lot of time in my class covering Chinese history, so it was only natural that I would watch this. I enjoyed it a lot - but mostly because I was familiar with the basics of the material it covered. Otherwise, I would have been totally lost. The plot concerns how Sun Yat Sen and his followers fight a lot of battles to defeat the corrupt Qing dynasty and establish a Chinese republic. There's a little more to it, but not much. This is not really a martial arts movie, nor a real drama, but a curious mix of those things and a documentary.

What you get is a lot of hagiography about Sun Yat-Sen, and a lot of battles. The film is most certainly propaganda for the current regime in China, even it is somewhat veiled. Many historical figures are introduced and then. . . they disappear from view. I suspect a Chinese viewer would probably get a lot more out of it than a...

That's not the real run time
The run time for this movie is actually about 118 minutes, but the US Blu-Ray version is only 99 minutes. Why the heck is that? I was looking forward to this (especially for it's incredible run time, making it a true epic), but was let down by you guys at Amazon. Other than that, the movie was still good, but should have been 240 minutes, extending all the battle sequences in the movie

God's Country

God's Country, an Excellent Film of Inspiration
One of the things that plagues independently made films of faith is that without big studio backing there will be problems with such things as lighting, editing, music and sadly even acting. There is no such problem with this film, it is positively brilliant and I have had the privilege of reviewing faith based and family films for years. This is a film that should have been featured in theaters as there is a wide open expanse of beauty that harks back to the great old days of the John Ford epics. Of course this is not a Western though it takes place in Western style territory. There are also scenes in the metropolis of LA and here is one of the areas the film shines in. You are taken back and forth from city to country, intercutting between scenes in a style often over looked in films today. Certainly the director Chris Armstrong, who put this together, deserves credit for knowing his craft. However, I have to single out one element in particular. Though the over all cast is...

Pleasure to watch!
How great it is to see God's redemptive hand directed so well in a Christian Film. It was a true pleasure to watch a Christian Film where the main character transforms slowly from every angle. The cinematography was exceptional in particular the beautiful shots of the retreat center. The cast was exceptional and had chemistry. Jenn Gotzon does an exceptional job at showing how God changes people lives and helps them re-arrange what really matters. My hats off to the director Chris Armstrong for creating very clever ways of making the scenery become a main character in the movie. Excellent film for a family, great laughs and lots to talk about afterward. Thank you for making an engaging Christian Film!

Well crafted and fun to watch
While a lot of faith-based films are truly cringe-worthy to watch, Director Chris Armstrong has done an amazing job elevating this film far above its budget and source material. The direction, editing, sound and cinematography are all exceptional. Strong performances all around from the excellent ensemble cast but it is Jenn Gotzen who shines as Meghan Doherty, an ambitious real estate executive sent to oversee the foreclosure of "God's Country." She arrives at the Christian retreat, tucked away in the Mohave Desert, with the intent to seal the deal and move on but the owner refuses to sign her offer sheet until she has experienced life on the retreat. What follows is a great, fun fish-out-of-water story the entire family can enjoy as Meghan Doherty tries to navigate her way through six days in God's Country. A well-crafted movie that is fun to watch.

Marvel Knights: InHumans

~This is worth your money, definitely worth your time.~
If you are not in any way familiar with motion comics, I am not sure what particular motion comic would be the best introduction for you, but this is not a bad way to begin. Like the writer of this series, Paul Jenkins, I had never heard of The Inhumans, but this really worked to my advantage, to learn of The Inhumans in this way. I think my father-in-law has perhaps mentioned The Inhumans, but his comic collection is so, AWESOME!, that because he has told me so much about Marvel & its history, this title would have been lost in the shuffle. Before I was injured, I was a freelance illustrator, primarily drawing & painting portraits. Until my father-in-law pulled out some of his comics, it had been over 20 years since I had looked at a comic book. I was depressed at how my gift was & is severely affected, yet he kind of brought me full circle with my art and its beginnings, and enjoying the art of others became strangely therapeutic for me, at least emotionally & mentally. I could...

Marvel Knights Inhumans DVD
The Inhumans have always been my favorite heroes in the Marvel Universe ever since I was introduced to them through mid 70's issues of the Fantastic Four. The Inhumans struck me as something different and very cool. Their battles and team ups with the FF, Sub Mariner, Spiderman and the Hulk among others as well as the in fighting of the royal family itself was often created some of the best and most dramatic stories of all time. As often happens, I had stopped reading comics by the late 1990's and was lost as to what was happening in the Universe. I discovered the Marvel Knights Inhumans graphic novel while floating around on Amazon about a year ago. I loved everything about it. The art and the complex storyline drew me in immediately. This motion comic captures the novel very well. Keep in mind this is NOT full animation so don't expect it to be. Take it for what it is and you'll enjoy the ride.

A BRILLIANT Graphic Novel brought to life
When I read the Marvel Knights Inhumans in the late 1990s I was absolutely drawn into the complexity of the story by author Paul Jenkins right away. Add to that the stunning visuals of artist Jae Lee and it was a recipe for greatness that I have turned numerous friends onto over the years. I would love to see this team revisit these characters again someday.
This "motion comic" captures all of the high points and though a bit clunky (like ALL motion comics) it is forgivable because the artwork is so damned good in it's still form. The voice casting is strong. Not EXACTLY what I heard in my head as a reader, but we all bring our own prejudices to the table with a form of literature that has been adapted from another source.
If I have one criticism it would be to not have to go back to the intro and outro title sequences between episodes if trying to watch it as a long form movie.

Naruto Shippuden: Set 14

Naruto's Answer. SPOILER FREE REVIEW
Warning: though this review does not spoil future events it does reference previous ones, so please do not read if you have not seen boxset 13.

The previous boxset was, in my opinion, the highpoint of Naruto's story so far. Unfortunately, it ended with a shocking cliffhanger as Hinata was ruthlessly cut down by Pain, moments after she declared her love for Naruto. The grief caused by this callous act sees Naruto give in to his rage, and consequently, the Nine Tails Fox. It is here that boxset 14 begins. Contains 13 episodes ( 167 - 179).

The introduction of this boxset is an explosive one, as Naruto (enveloped in the Nine Tails' chakra) unleashes all of his rage at Pain, resulting in a devastating showcase of powers from both men. The battle is nothing short of epic, and the level of strength displayed from both Naruto and Pain is jaw dropping. As is befitting such a seismic battle the animation is superb; resulting in a fluid, free flowing fight which is...

PAIN
The previous box set was great. Showed some great training and character development. This box set concludes the battle between Naruto and pain. Also includes the fourth hokage parts. This box set is going to one of the best to have in your collection. To all true Naruto fans what we use to get in our "box sets" compared to now.... well you know. But we all know that's not going to stop us from completing our collection!

Naruto Shippuden Box Set 14
Naruto Shippuden Box Set 14 is truly a masterpiece collection of Naruto episodes and an absolute must have for any fan of the show! Before buying the product, I heard people complaining of how this box set has almost as many filler episodes as it does episodes from the main arc. Honestly, I assumed that the fillers were not going to be that great compared what else was on this collection. However, after watching these episodes, I was plesantly surprised with what I thought were going to be useless distraction episodes and found myself enjoying them just as much as the main arc. That is to say they are definetly not as good as the main arc episodes, but to those who may be skeptical about getting it for that reason, do NOT let them defer you from buying it. As for the main arc episodes, all of them are not only visually stunning but masterfully crafted, and wonderfully acted, to the point that, I would say, they are some of the best episodes in the show's history, especially episodes...

Electric Button (Moon & Cherry)

Electric Button
I'll go right to the point: this is one funny movie. When I saw the cover of the DVD, I sincerely did not know what to expect, only that it was a Japanese film, described as a sexy comedy. But it is more than that, and, after watching it, you'll feel that you watched something special.

Kenichi Tadokoro (Tasuko Nagaoka) is a college student who joins a group that writes erotic literature. He is young and inexperienced, and the task seems enormous to him. However, Mayama ((Noriko Eguchi), the only female in the group, quickly learns that Tadokoro is a virgin, and slowly seduces him. Tadokoro, of course, is having the time of his life, as Mayama is pretty much experienced in the sexual arts. However, after one lovemaking session, Mayama tells Tadokoro, "Thanks for helping with my research." It happens that Mayama was using him for inspiration and data gathering for her next book. His colleagues at the group inform him that "Mayama will do anything for her writing." At the...

Casual Sex? Or Modern Love? ELECTRIC BUTTON Hits The Spot!
Ah, the adventures and misadventures of young people in love! (Mostly, it's misadventures.) It isn't uncommon for attraction to bubble up into lust and, inevitably, for lust to turn into something stronger; and that's precisely the subject matter of this 2004 Japanese film that's only recently found release on American shores. Though it tries in the latter half to perhaps be something a bit more than what it wanted, ELECTRIC BUTTON remains a modern-day love story of two youngsters who fall backward into love - entirely by an unconventional route - and end up making the best of it despite the reality that they're probably not so much `star-crossed' as their routes are `criss-crossed' by a cruel and wicked thing called fate.

(NOTE: The following review will contain minor spoilers necessary solely for the discussion of plot and characters. If you're the kind of reader who prefers a review entirely spoiler-free, then I'd encourage you to skip down to the last two paragraphs...

Live in Ancient Kourion [Blu-ray]

Astounding
Stu Block has managed to do what I thought was impossible - do justice to material from Iced Earth's full discography, and originally sung by no less than 4 different people. He can out-scream Ripper, and even out-emote Harlow. And the whole band sounds tight, energized, and the crowd is INTO it. That a band this far into their career can pull off a live album like this is really remarkable.

If you like Iced Earth - old stuff or new - this is a must buy. And if you like power metal at all - grab it.

Now I just have to wait for the Blu-ray to come out in the U.S.

Ancient Kourion - an "Iced Earth MUST"!!!
5 stars... it would be silly to expect anything better than this! Watched the dvd in one sitting... with my girlfriend... we were both mesmerized!

I'm a big fan of Iced Earth, they're probably my favorite band. That may lead you to believe this will be a biased review; however, often times the biggest fans are also the harshest critics. To build credibility, here's a few criticisms I have toward Iced Earth:
* "Framing Armageddon" & "Crucible of Man"... I've picked about 5 songs between the 2 albums that I really enjoy, the rest are pretty much boring/filler to me.
* I liked Barlow the 1st time around, buy why get rid of Ripper to bring back a "part-time" Barlow?
* "Festivals of the Wicked" - why release 2 shows from the same summer festival tour? The 2 Barlow shows have virtually the same setlist.

But for "Live in Ancient Kourion" ... Iced Earth has nailed it! As Jon states in one of the interviews, the setlist will never please everyone...

Surgical Precision, Highest Quality Effort
No question - Iced Earth presented their fans with a true gem. This is simply not just their best live album ever, but one of the best ever in the genre. Why did I buy this album? First, I'm a fan. But, that's not very useful if you are wondering whether you should get it, is it? First should be that Iced Earth truly play inspired and true metal. Emotion, dedication, love shown to their fans - all of it is there. Second, the quality of the material is the highest. Songs on this live album sound better than on their studio releases. Third, the musicianship is second to none. Finally, in Stu Iced Earth got the world class singer. I don't care whether you're a fan of Dickinson, Halford, Dio, Ripper, Barlow or someone else, Stu will impress you. If you're a metal fan you should own this record ... If you're an Iced Earth fan, ... well, it's a no brainer.

Helldriver

If you enjoy the occasional vehicle constructed from body parts or 8-limbed zombie sword fight, then this is for you!
If you enjoy the occasional film featuring vehicles constructed from body parts and 8-limbed zombie sword fights, then this is probably right up your alley. For a Tokyo Gore Shock subgenre I give this an "A."

This typical/low-budget Tokyo Shocker begins with an odd man chumming a pack of some manner of zombie-demons with severed human body parts. As they feed on the anthro-carrion our chummer "fishes" for deadite heads using a sharp hook at the end of a rope. Then he removes something that could only be described as an evil wishbone growing out of their foreheads. We later learn that these "horns" are sued as street drugs, unstable explosives and are the source of undeadity in these zombies. When things get out of hand a random chick (our hero, Kika) with chainsaw-swords and some mean stripper pole skills comes to the rescue...what ensues is just plain silly...a truck flies through the air and Jenga's a 50' tower of zombie-demons, one of which a spine with a head at the...

I want to meet the people who thought this movie up!!!!
This is easily the most whacked out movie or thing I have ever seen ! It would be best watched after enjoying a fattie. The director at the beginning of the film suggests this, but recommends alcohol. But I recommend natures finest. There is alot of stuff in this movie and most of it never before on the big screen. First the main character is a smoking hot zombie killer who has been sexually abused by her uncle who is also her mothers lover. The zombies grow horns that are like explosive crack and are hunted by a drug syndacate. The zombies are able to meld together after being hacked apart. This is a run down of some of the stuff in this flick, baby zombie nunchaks, spider zombie with M-16 legs, japanese hitler, baby arms growing out of a zombies face that hold knife and fork to cut up flesh to eat, zombie head hail storm, lesbian zombies with action, I could go on and on.There is so much I am going to have to watch it again. The Japanese are the most bizarre in their fetishes and it is all...

Helldriver is a helluva film!
As a fan of Yoshihiro Nishimura films in specific and weird Japanese films in general, I have taken to collecting such gems as Machine Girl, Tokoyo Gore Police, Alien vs. Ninja, Meatball Machine, Samurai Princess, Versus, Tokoyo Zombie, Hard Revenge Milly, and Oldboy and a bunch of other Takashi Miiki works. When I found out about the release of Helldriver, purchasing it was an easy decision to make. Truthfully, I am more than a little surprised that it didn't get more positive reviews by those who have watched it and posted here on Amazon. I mean, it's totall original, with plenty of weirdness, comedy, splatter, horror, and an absolutely absorbing rollercoaster storyline.

Kika (Yumiko Hara) is the heroine of the story - a young woman tormented by an awful sociopath of a mother (Eihi Shiina of Audition and Tokoyo Gore Police) and an equally deranged uncle - who wakes from a coma a year after an alien dust storm blankets Japan, turning its inhabitants into flesh-craving...

Kickin' Strength

Amy Dixon does it again. Amazing.
I'll be honest, I was a little nervous when I saw that Amy Dixon's next DVD wasn't affiliated with Women's Health, like all of her previous stuff was, but when I did the workout, I realized it obviously wasn't Women's Health that created a great workout, it's Amy... whereever, or whoever, she works with.

I'm a huge fan of hers, and been doing her other workouts for a while now (the Workout in 10 is my personal favorite.) This is a kickboxing workout that will totally bust your booty. Like in her other workouts, the key to making these work is Amy herself. She's got a really energetic personality that makes you WANT to work out with her. And I'll tell you what, by the end, I was spent. This workout is tough. So if you're a complete novice, be forewarned. It's not really for the faint of heart. But if you want a good kickboxing workout that will make you feel like you actually worked out, you won't do better than this.

Point blank, it's just a good, fun...

Great Workout!
This will keep you heart rate up throughout the entire workout. Amy is informative and encouraging but not overly chatty. All moves transition fluidly, covering a wide variety of muscles from different angles. The bonus section alone makes it worth buying the DVD because they have the best abs and core workout ( Workout in Ten and Perfect Body are also excellent and different!) The progressions can be a little challenging but keep you from getting bored after doing the workout ten or twenty times.

She is one of the best!!
I will buy any DVD Amy puts out because she is an excellent instructor and I love that they are broken up into different segments so I feel like I am actually accomplishing something. You will notice a big difference in your core if you stick with Amy's workouts. I am alternating this with Give Me 10 and Total in Ten. I can't wait for her to make more!

Donna Leon's Commissario Guido Brunetti Mysteries - Episodes 15 & 16

Brunetti
I got all all of them and it is one of the best set of DVD's I have ever bought. They are as good as Donna Leon's books. Subtitles - a great assistance for us older types.

Enjoyable
Good acting and good storyline. Not properly Italian though unfortunately, as it is sometimes too 'stiff', instead of more friendly touching.

Brunetti
Again, my favorite of all the international mysteries. He is handsome, and sometimes his family are quite amusing. The stories all get an A plus from me.

Behind The Orange Curtain

MUST SEE SERIOUSLY
I am SO thankful that someone made this movie. The drug problem in this country is just absolutely too much and it needs to BE SOLVED. Every young person should watch this. Before it's too late.

Chilling Gripping Eye-Opening Heartbreaking Documentary
In April of this year 2013 I first saw this movie at a church in Orange County California; a Friday nite program called "Celebrate Recovery". Myself just 14 days clean & sober; there was not a dry eye in the building. It's so intense that I found it really hard not to get up and walk out. The reality so grim and heartfelt. Way too real; way to harsh. A MUST SEE!!! If you or anyone in your family or any loved one you know is dealing with prescription drug abuse or addiction PLEASE watch this movie; it could save your life or the life of a loved one.

Awesome
This documentary is a real eye opener. I'm hoping children and parents, alike, will watch this because knowledge is power. It packed a powerful punch for me and I've seen it several times now. It is shockingly accurate about what is going on, not only in Orange County but around the world.

The Perfect Pregnancy Workout vol. 3: The Ancient Art of Belly Dance for Labor

Excellent Workout to Prepare for Labor!
This video is designed to teach you moves to use during labor to move you along and decrease your discomfort by isolating your hips and moving them in round, fluid ways. I started using the video in my second trimester and I really expect it will help me on the big day. I'm sure that all pregnant woman will benefit from this workout, regardless of how pregnant they are, their age, shape, and/or fitness level.

The DVD has a Beginning and an Advanced workout and each is 30 minutes long. Unless you've taken belly dance before, start with the Beg session. Most of us aren't used to moving our bodies the way the instructor shows, but even if things feel awkward at first, you'll get the hang of it in just a few workouts. The movements feel wonderful and the routine is fun. The time will fly by!

The best part is the clip that shows the instructor using these moves during her labor. It is so motivational!!!

Excellent Prenatal and Pre-labor workout!!!!!
Oh my gosh, I love this video!! First of all, I had a rough first trimester and had to get back into exercising slowly. I have been doing prenatal yoga and prenatal pilates. This is the PERFECT addition to my workout library! I so love this work out! To be more specific, here are some of the reasons I LOVE this video:

1. It is fun to do! We all need to vary our routine, and this does the trick. You won't be bored.

2. It feels good. The flowing motions of bellydance are actually calming to me. There are two levels, beginner and advanced. I started with beginner to be on the safe side. I found it very easy to do, but still felt like I got exercise for me and the baby.

3. The instructor is wonderful! Elisa Llamido is very knowledgable and also pregnant right along with me! I like the fact that she switches her right and left, so that to me, as I watch, I can follow along as she mirrors the movements. You do not have to have any prior...

Surprisingly Fun!
I'm just starting my third trimester and I've been getting more and more worried about labor. My sister had a really, really tough time and I was with her through it all. She had an epidural, but she was in labor for 17 hours without it before the doctor let her come to the hospital. I've been dreading the same experience.

I was a little skeptical about buying a bellydance dvd, but I was desperate and after I saw a video about this on YouTube, it seemed like it was worth a shot.

The first time I tried it I waited until my husband was at work and I closed the blinds before popping it into the DVD player. Seriously, I'm as big as a house- I didn't want to scare anyone or embarrass myself.

I was surprised at how much fun it was! The garden setting is really beautiful and the drums are very soothing and inspiring. Thirty-five minutes flew by and at the end of it I felt very loose and energized- better than I have in weeks.

I've done it three...

Blood And Lace [ VHS Retro Style] 1971

Superb quality release of this rare shocker!
My review pertains specifically to the "VHS Retro Style" DVD release on MOD (DVD-R) from Amazon.com.

Despite the "VHS Retro" heading (which might imply poor quality), this is actually a major studio quality transfer. The film is completely uncut, and is letterboxed at 1:85-1. Although it is listed as being 16X9, I had to use the zoom feature to fill my widescreen TV's screen. The compositions still looked correct, and I recommend using the zoom feature if you have a 16X9 widescreen TV or monitor.

The film has never been previously released in the US on commercial home video, not even on VHS, so this release is most welcome! The color is the best I've seen for this film since it played theatrically in the early 1970's.

Suffice it to say that this is a Freudian exercise in horror, set in a home for troubled youth. Unfortunately, the home's caretakers are much more troubled than the wayward teenagers, leading to chilling events. Melody Patterson...

Sales, Soupy - Soupy Sez!

Great for Soupy Fans
For those who are too young to know, Soupy Sales had a some TV shows in the late 50's and early 60's from Detroit and later Los Angeles. He was also a regular panelist on the game show "What's My Line?" as well as other game shows of the era. However he is probably best known for his NY show from 1964-1966 which ran for 260 episodes. The show was brought back in 1978 from Los Angeles and ran for 65 episodes and was known as "The New Soupy Sales Show". He also has probably taken more pies in the face than any other person ever has or will. While billed as a children's show adults enjoyed it for it's slapstick humor and adult references without being dirty enough for most children to get. I was able to enjoy most of those NY shows on TV when I was young but as an adult now see a lot he was able to get away with that was adult in nature. This collection I believe is mostly from the 1978 "New Soupy Sales Show" but is two hours of fun if you enjoy his type of humor. You can easily tell...

Not what made Soupy Soupy.
This was very disappointing. Forced laughter and lame bits far short of what made Soupy's early shows so much fun.

Ghosthunters - Spirits Of Bodmin Moor

Just talk...all talk
I was expecting to see actual ghost investigations, but it's just a bunch of Brit guys telling us about their investigations and what they found. Boooorrrring.

King Arthurs' Knights Still Haunt Cornwall
Very interesting program about the hauntings around Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, England. A ghostly apparition of a man seen galloping across the moors on a horse whose legs do not even touch the ground, and then the two of them simply disappear into thin air. Blood-stained stones in a stream where King Arthur's knights crossed after a bloody battle on their way back to the castle. The stones still show the blood stains today of the knights whose wounds the blood flowed from centuries earlier. An apparition of a monk is still seen standing on the high cliffs of the moor, and two eyewitnesses saw the ghostly figure of a man hanging from a tree along a dark and lonely road around the moors.

The village and nearby Tintagel Castle are associated with the legends surrounding King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. The village has, in recent times, become attractive to day-trippers, and tourists from many parts of the world, and is one of the most-visited places in...

British documentary
This series is interesting, but very dry. You all know what I mean, it's British! This show might have been scarey,if they had a couple of American dudes with flash lights, that screamed easily.

Family Weekend

thoroughly entertaining!
This is a very well written, funny, and yes.. touching film. It's just the right blend of lighthearted and funny, with a splash of more gritty, real life problems thrown in. The characters make the film and are really well cast. It's a good one for the family, I'd say ages 10 and up..

Crazy film with a terrific cast!
You really can't go wrong with a cast that includes Matthew Modine (over the top in this flick!), Kristin Chenoweth and all-time favorite Shirley Jones! But young Olesya Rulin pulls off a standout acting job as the teen who takes control of her parents and finally and FIRMLY gets their attention. There's never a dull moment in this family, with a little something for everyone! It will undoubtedly remind you of someone (many a few "someones") in your own family.

Charming
Surprisingly charming comedy about a teen who drugs and ties up her parents in a desperate attempt to get them to notice her and her siblings. In a way this is a kiddie version of the Kevin Spacey movie The Ref. The first two thirds or so before the movie turns schmaltzy are energetic and funny and the cast is uniformly fine. However, some parents might find scenes in Family Weekend inappropriate for their smaller children. The most obvious example would be the main character's little sister played by Joey King (Ramona and Beezus) who fancies herself an actress and during the early film is frequently in character as Iris, the child prostitute that Jodie Foster portrayed in Taxi Driver, complete with surprisingly salty language. She gets the film's biggest laughs but some parents probably won't find a seven year old swearing and talking about her sexual parts funny. Other R rated movies she acts out scenes from include Reservoir Dogs and Dog Day Afternoon, although the humor in...

Martin: The Complete Fifth Season

The final season!
Martin - The Complete Fifth Season is the final season of this '90s hit show. It's pretty sad this funny sitcom only lasted five little seasons. Tisha Campbell is rarely seen, she had issues with Lawrence and would only finish the finale if Martin agreed to keep his distance from her. This season is bittersweet, they are still some hilarious moments but the cast who had excellent chemistry the first 4 seasons is now gone and you can feel it. I highly recommend purchasing this groundbreaking show, good memories!

So-So Solid Season
This is actually a pretty solid season considering the controversy and the so-called sexual harrassment that Tisha filed, supposedly. I watched that second episode of this season and it didn't look like she had such a problem with it, hair all messed up and whatnot. Besides, she was in more episodes; actually half the season she was in more episodes so I don't know how credible her story is.
This season could've been way worse without her but after all, it is Martin Lawrence's show and he held it up on his own with the supporting cast. Everybody else in the principal cast got more room to breath and shine. It would've been nice to see more of his other characters, although the 2nd time that Sheneneh came up was in my one of my favorite episodes where she tries to sue Tommy as Mark Cooper as her lawyer. David Alan Grier came back. This season went off without a hitch.

But....

i could tell from the first episode that things were different, the energy was...

It's So Haaard, To Say Goodbyyye...
Like a few others have stated before me, I'm only buying this to complete my collection. The sad part is, I've been telling myself 'don't even bother!', but because I love Martin (and all the cast) so much, I have to complete the collection. It saddens me to know that Martin and Gina had issues and ultimately, it destroyed the show. I really wished they could've worked things out but, I understand that people have to do what they feel is best (whether it was Martin or Gina). This season still had some funny episodes though and I'm looking forward to revisiting them. Also, Pam did her best to carry the show from the female perspective, so kudos to her. I believe that's why she's an addition to the cover and not one of Martin's alter ego's. I personally feel they could have put a better picture of her on the cover!!! Martin & Cast, if you're reading this, a comeback would be nice! Hey, Cosby did it...lol. You definately have an audience out there. But if you decide to make a...
