It's more than just numbers and Elmo - but the chapter stops could be improved
I've really enjoyed the DVD releases from the Sesame Street Workshop that Warner Home Video has been releasing. I particularly like the "music" and "parody" volumes and you'll find my five star reviews of these on Amazon.
While parents who want to have "Instant Sesame Street" available for their children will want this volume, and for that it might rate five stars, I could only give it four stars because it's not exactly what is described by its title.
This DVD contains two hour-long (well, actually 58-minutes) Sesame Street shows. None of them actually "stars" Elmo. There are sections with Grover and the other Sesame Street characters And though there are sections dealing with numbers (and the "tips for parents" bonus feature gives suggestions for discussing numbers) it's not all numbers. There's a lot about the weather too! There are a couple of cute musical numbers - my favorite is "Are Rocks Alive?" (note this not about numbers) sung by a 60s style girl...
not the best Elmo DVD out there
We own more than 20 Elmo DVDs and this is, simply, not the best one out there. Not sure what's "wrong" with it exactly. Our two-year old just doesn't seem to enjoy it that much.
not the best of Sesame Street
Maybe this DVD is better to watch than absolutely nothing, but this one's a dud. I got this because my kid loves Sesame Street "Alphabet Challenge" and "Kids' Favorite Country Songs." Those two titles keep my son's full attention and he even bops along to the music. My son ran away within 5 minutes of this starting. Lame. Hubby agrees. We'll stick to Alphabet Challenge and Country Songs.
