This is a unusual film in that it tells the story of the 1930 rebellion of tribesmen in Formosa. (taiwan) , The Japanese conquered the island without bloodshed in 1895, at least until they fought the seedig people of the mountains. They were headhunters who still lived that way. After a short bloody war the Japanese conquered the tribes of the mountains. Twenty five years later they are being mistreated by the Japanese , who in spite of trying to civilize them; are still acting with brutality to them. This film is about that struggle of the tribesmen against the mighty Japanese empire. And like the native amercians of the united states , you can guess what the result was. Still this is a bloody and realistic film. It features many battle scenes and scenes of horror and mass suicide as tribeswomen and children kill themselves. The acting here is spot on and you really think that these are in fact real tribesmen as the whole film is so graphic. It's in seedig or Chinese? and Japanese...
